the Athletic Dept has been treated like a step-child by the University for a long time. "you want a football stadium on campus? Only if the students pay for it." And, the athletic dept has been the wussiest of negotiators. Terrible deal w/ the RB, not having control of the gameday experience. UCLA doesn't value athletics. At.All.

I think what you mean by "Get Ucla away from the football program while we still can" is decouple the athletic department decision making from the greater university. Let the athletic department make its own decisions.
