It's football played by college students, so it's still college football. Ucla isn't managing the team, but it still can represent the team with the same colors, logos, etc.
About 40% of the instruction that takes place at Ucla is performed by ad hoc, contract professors and lecturers who are not employees of Ucla. They're independent, outside contractors to the school. The football team would be no different.
If you don't want to watch, fine. Turn off your tv. Who cares. The future is rushing past you whether you like it or not.
