The conventional US position on Palestinian nationhood seems to be that it is a reward Palestinians would get if they behave well and agree to all conditions imposed on them by Israel.
Maybe it is time to put the horse before the cart: maybe it should be the starting point that gives the two parties an actual reality on the ground that needs to be taken to the negotiation table as a given so that both sides understand that there are boundaries that need to be respected and that they are friggin' neighbors in the same neighborhood. (By both sides, what I really mean is the right wing lunatics on both sides of. Rational people already understand and accept this reality.)
We vetoed the chance to really change the course of this conflict and do something positive for once.
I swear, Biden is really trying hard to piss this election away because his mind is not flexible enough to understand the 21st century reality of the region.
