right off the bat. There appears to be a massive discrepancy in termination buy outs and resignation buy outs. From what I can tell, LSU/Kiffyare only paying Ole Miss about $3-4 million for snatching Lane. If Ole Miss had fired him, the number would be muuuch larger.
It's my understanding that the situation is the same at LSU. The resignation buy out is very low compared to the termination buyout. If Ole Miss had a resignation buyout that was equal to the termination buyout, they'd have a bunch of money to go get a new HFC.
The schools should collude to ratchet resignation buyouts wayyyyyyy up. I know, collusion is "bad." But, there
s a guy on BG that says that most college HFC's are represented by one of four agents. If that is true, you can bet that they are colluding against large termination buyouts.
There should be some kind of collective action buy D1 schools to agree that resignation buyouts equal termination buyouts.
LSU would have thought twice about stealing Kiffy if they'd had to pay a buyout that equaled Kiffy's termination buyout.
