That would be an entirely workable system, now that we've chucked geographic proximity as a consideration wrt conference alignments. So yeah, let's go ahead and kill the current system, building something new from ground up now that everything that made the previous system attractive is already out the window.

(I'm not being facetiuos, by the way.)
