Here is the problem. You still have too much chaff (Indiana, Vandy, Northwestern, etc.) and not all the teams you need (Miami, Clemson, Florida State, and maybe a few more) to set up the Premier League. OTOH, it’s pretty f’in hard to kick someone out of a conference.
Maybe the Premier League forms when the SEC and 10’s existing media rights deal expires and they form the “Premier Conference”. This would just be for football, because hoops is dominated by Kansas, Kentucky, Duke and UNC and only Kentucky and UNC would even be considered for the Premier Conference.
