He took his ball and went to play somewhere else, thank goodness. This was after alienating a great many people here with his hostile, aggressive attacks, which were then followed by trumpian attempts to claim he was the real victim. Some of us, or more accurately quite a number of us, got sick and tired of his attacks and hostility and nastiness, and fought back.

I was not infrequently the target of those attacks. Just one example: He launched a vicious, disgusting tirade against me, accusing me of being "anti-Catholic." Why did he think that (if he truly thought that)?? Well, it's because in the listings I posted of games on TV, I referred to a particular university that happens to be Catholic-affiliated as "Neuter Doom." Oh, the horror!

Never mind that I've for YEARS named many schools using variations on their names for the purposes of making fun of them for things they've done wrong, or just for the sake of plain ol' humor. To whit:

Dook
Puke
The House That Vander Built
$UC
$UCks
U$C
Two Lane
Northworstern
North Carocheata
Syraccused
Alabamee
Floriduh
Floriduh State
Yes, Virginia, There Is a Basketball
Aubrey Graham University (Drake)
etc.

(Again, the horror!!)

OldBitter (for the record, NOT a nickname I gave him) apparently didn't get any of the humor, and just assumed that "Neuter Doom" was an attack on all Catholics and Catholicism.

Anyway, I was far from the only one he attacked, and as I said, a lot of us got tired of it and fought back. I guess he got the message that most here didn't like his behavior, so he finally left.

One other thing: I used to organize occasional pre-game BZer get-togethers inside Pauley, gatherings that would last 15-20 minutes or so. He showed up to some of those and couldn't help being the same nasty, offensive person he was when sitting at his keyboard. I didn't want to associate with him anymore, so I stopped organizing those meet-ups. It's a shame that he alone managed to make them so unpleasant.

Years ago, he and I would both be in attendance at the Woodenstock events at mrnewguy's house, where we'd enjoy watching UCLA games of the Wooden era. I don't remember OldBruin being offensive there, but I do recall that we didn't get along very well. But it wasn't always terrible: I think I remember giving him a ride, either from Pauley to his house, or from his house to Pauley, and we got along okay during that brief time.
