It's got to be difficult for the Uni. I can see where I would be hesitant to act. No matter what you do, there is going to be harsh criticism from some side. Possibly resulting in strong calls for resignation. Possibly resulting in resignation. Maybe there is a razor thin path through it, but maybe not.

I think that a lot of what is being done by university administrations is waiting and hoping it burns out. Or, maybe even hoping Biden says we're going to stop providing bombs for the slaughter.* (not likely).

I share the concern about the police's inaction once the battle began.

*On a side note, I guess "urban warfare" has completely changed from my old-timey mental image of it. Or maybe my mental image was always out of whack with reality. It's not building to building, killing the opponent, trying to not kill civilians. It's bomb all the buildings in a sector into rubble and then go in and clear out whoever survived. I guess, looking back at like WWII, the only reason they/we didn't do that so much was lack of artillery shells?

We certainly followed the rubble model in the invasion of Iraq. We have basically no moral high ground on this.
