But, for me, Shock and Awe was "we are going to bomb them into submission." And, our entire approach changed with the "surge," but I think for the first few years of the war, the initial stage of an attack was to rubblize the target. JMO. And, maybe I overstate it, because I was so dismayed, disgusted by Shock and Awe.
All that aside. Seems pretty clear that Israel's strategy is to rubblize a zone before entering. At least, that's how it's being reported. I'd love to be corrected.
