as the game continues, a bit of news and an added thought - the news is that Utah has lost two starters to seemingly freak injuries here. Their #3 hitter fouled a ball right up into her own face. Hard to tell watching on TV but, as the announcer said, hopefully it struck her below her right eye - on the cheekbone. Couldn't tell for sure but it looked like there could have been some blood as the player walked off on her own (after having been down and helped for a few minutes) holding a towel to her face. The other player out is their cleanup hitter - Grant doubled to the wall in center field and it looked like the outfielder may have twisted an ankle or knee or something trying to get to the ball to field it. A trainer ran out to see to her and walked off the field with her - player was walking slowly but didn't appear to be limping badly or anything.
Bruins are getting to Utah's starting pitcher now - Godin, running for Grant, got herself to third and scored on a passed ball by the catcher.
The other thought is to remind myself and all of us of the high quality of opposition we are facing in these games. These teams we're playing are nationally ranked, top quality opposition. Needs to be mentioned when analyzing Feraimo or anyone else on the team. Faraimo by the way is looking stronger as the game moves along.
