Saban was already a multi-millionaire when the Dolphins lured him from LSU with a $22M contract.
His first contract at Alabama had a clause that guaranteed he'd be the highest paid college football coach if he won a national championship, which he did.
Money may not have made Saban the best (it rarely makes anything the best) and values may be important to him, but money was clearly a factor in every job decision he made (as it should be).
