And his fielding has been impeccable, making several run saving (and perhaps game saving) plays. The catch of the foul ball in the 9th inning last night (no, not run saving immediately) was very good, but not even great by his standards.

Gordon is improving defensively? Oh, he didn't make any errors. Several days ago, he almost made Uribe drop the last out on an infield fly. And yesterday, he took another pop fly from the centerfielder, having to make a much more difficult catch. Doesn't he understand when he is called off a ball? And he has to "hit more consistently"? No, he IS hitting consistently, consistently bad. He has to start hitting, period. Yesterday he had a hit, 1 for 4. That's better than the ofer 14 in his previous 3 games. That gives him .056 in the 5-game winning streak which coincided with Kemp not hitting. He sure as hell wasn't one of those who "stepped up."
