I'm not sure you can judge Pierre by a little over 20 games in June. Look at Big Poppi in Boston. He would be long gone based on his early season stats. Pierre is a hard worker so it's nice to see him reap some rewards and recognition. It will be good for the Dodgers to have him available if Manny has a hard time mentally coming back this season
I was surprised this morning when reading the Time Sports page that Colorado has had such a hot streak since Jim Tracey took over for Clint Hurdle. They have won something like 17 out of 19. It may be too late, although they are 10 games behind now. However, they are behind the Dodgers who have the best record in baseball, so it's tough to make up much ground. I remember a few years ago Colorado went on a streak and won the N L West pennant late in the season..
It's a nice story about Mitch Jones. Maybe they will make a movie about him too starring Dennis Quaid.
