I took a look at Bakersfield's schedule, and it's quite ambitious for a first-year team. Also a little weird. SEVEN games against Fresno State? The Bulldogs were no doubt disappointed to have won only four of those, but they are having an off-year. I see four games against Cal Poly SLO, all of which are shown as Bakersfield losses. Did I miss that victory you refer to?
But about those Bruins . . . Yeah, they are capable of losing to Bakersfield. That's what keeps baseball interesting. Anybody can lose to anybody if a couple of balls drop in for hits, or a wild throw lets a runner score. It's hard to fault Savage for bringing in a coach like Vanderhook, from the successful program at Fullerton. I think the team has a good chance to make it to post-season play, and as Oregon State demonstrated two years in a row, anything can happen when a team peaks at just the right time.
