What's not a lie is that Americans have consistently pushed back against subsistence wages. We're a nation that always wants more. The top is never happy with millions when they can have billions and the bottom is not happy to settle for just being alive and having a roof over their head. And all this takes place in a system that actively syphons wealth away from workers and into the pockets of our capitalist overlords.
This is the fundamental rot in the economy that is felt across the board by the working class in the nation regardless of sector and regardless of collar color even if they can't quite put their finger on it. This rot can't be captured or tracked by Wall Street watching because our conventional economic metrics are tied to the market value of company shares and not the value of their workers. And it can't be processed by our traditional politics, including the current leadership of the Democratic Party, because our overtone window does not allow us to think in these terms.
And we keep on going with the belief that these are unsolvable problems. They're only unsolvable because we've outgrown the box we put ourselves in
