Some businesses could do what you want with health coverage, paid

leave and higher salaries and some can not. Lawn maintenance comes to mind. No lawn maint. can pay $20+ an hour plus all the benefits you want. If they did they would have to charge $500 a month to do your lawn instead of $150 and would go out of business. Farm workers, dishwashers, lots of jobs just don't command that level of pay and benefits. More skilled trades like plumber assistants, electrical, car repair could do that and most already do.

A very big part of the problem is the cost of living in many parts of the country and corporate price gauging on most all products. Just a few years ago 12 packs of Coke used to go on sale four for $10. Now they are $10 each and may go on sale three for $20. Nearly everything is like that. Low level pay can't keep up with that.
