Those of us here who understand this university is more than a football team, just reading her resume, a fellow grduate of the UCLA School of Public Health (I did a post-doc in Epidemiology there) explains why she would vote no on spending a lot of money for a coach. It's all about priorities. The current federal administration has made obtaining health care more difficult and/or expensive and restricted funds for medical research. Every university dollar that can be allocated to support her type of programs is crucial.

Throwing massive money at a big name coach is a crapshoot anyway. We have had enormously successful coaches with thin resumes (Terry Donahue, who had identical coaching experience as Foster - eight seasons as a position coach) and failures with impressive records (Chip).

So next time your health insurance premiums skyrocket up and your kid gets measles and UCLA's medical research studies go unfunded, what are you going to say? "Who cares, we have a good football team".
