I would refer people to the article just below "Follow the money".

In basketball, there seems to be a strong correlation between the amount of money the department can allocate to basketball and on-court success. A big reason for the rise of UConn basketball is they devote a bigger portion of money to basketball, compared with other programs with a football team.

That's not the NIL money. It's the money from the athletic deparment.

UCLA is using that extra money to boost the big money-maker, football. It is still early, but all signs indicate that it is paying off.

In the long run, I believe the extra money will matter...A LOT.

In the college sports future, the Big Ten and SEC will dominate, and there are signs that the SEC will finish second in that race. In the past the SEC dominated college football by having booster pay players, when it was illegal. Now that it is basically legal, they have lost their secret sauce.

I don't think it is a coincidence that the last three CFP champions were from the Big Ten, and that the Big Ten has had so much success in the basketball tournament. The Big Ten is winning the money race.

There is plenty to criticize about Jarmond, but I think joining the Big Ten will turn out to be the best move a UCLA AD has made since hiring John Wooden.
