He was a terrible hire, who lined his own pockets while destroying the conference.
George Kiavkoff didn't do a great job of dealing with the crisis, but a ton of blame goes to the University Presidents.
As for the future, I don't see UCLA leaving the Big Ten. The geography sucks, but playing with the big boys is too tempting.
A more realistic future to me is luring Cal and Stanford away from the ACC. Their travel situation is even worse than ours. That would give us a 6-team west coast group.
The bottom line is that conferences are based more on TV markets than geography or the quality of the universities or teams. TV markets drive everything.
