He knew they needed to make threes to beat Michigan. In the first half the Bruins shot and made 45% of their threes. In the second half they shot 10% many of them wide open. On the other hand, Michigan shot 23% in the first half and 66% in the second half and 78% overall. The rebounding totals didn't hold because the Bruins missed so many shots giving Michigan more rebounding opportunities.

A game plan can only work if it is executed successfully. If you don't make shots it puts tremendous pressure on all the other aspects of the game. The Bruins didn't have chance because their offensive and defensive execution in the second half was weak. It's pretty simple - make shots (including free throws), play sound defense and you've got a chance to win. The Bruins did some of that in the first half and trailed by 2. They didn't do any of that in the second half and got outscored by 28. Every game plan, no matter how brilliant it may be, depends on execution.
