I didn't post to judge the team. I expected us to get killed, and was pleasantly surprised at the half (but it was fools gold, those offensive rebounding stats weren't going to hold up).
BUT. I think the gameplan to attack Michigan was weaksauce. If we were playing to win that game, Wisconsin (the only team to beat them, and who did it AT Michigan) laid out the blueprint - shoot from downtown and make a lot of 3s.
IMHO, we needed to be shooting a LOT more 3s in that game - the only player who seemed to understand the assignment was Booker, but he was off. We were going to need to make 15+ 3s to win that game. At the half, I said to myself that if we wanted to have a shot of winning the game, we were going to need to make 10 3s in the second half.
We made 1.
I'll grant that maybe Cronin's plan wasn't to win, but shape the team into what he wants, but I think by this point in the season, we should lean into what we do well, which is shoot the 3. If we wish to beat top teams, it's going to be shooting a lot of 3s, over 2x as much as we are shooting now.
