I think it is dumb to let a guy have an unopposed layup late in a game when protecting a lead.
MacLean said that you don't want to foul the guy and let them score without any time coming off the clock. However, when you let them make an unopposed layup, you let them score with almost no time coming off the clock.
Clearly you want to defend without fouling, but you always want to do that. I would rather play defense. Make them either take time to get a good shot or force them into a bad shot. I don't agree with conceding a layup.
I am not saying that is what Cronin wants, but we did it a couple of times at the end of the game.
