regard ratings and rankings. I've the impression that Cronin looks to the type of player he is recruiting first off. I have no idea how important that is for Cronin, but my suspicion is that it means a lot to him.
The reports I'm hearing is that Brown is very much a Cronin type player - in other words, tough. I haven't heard too much about Booker, but I think that I did read that one of Cronin's priorities with the post is that he be athletic. Booker is that. So is Jamerson. Both are quick and fast and can get up and down the floor. Jamerson's rebounding stats are impressive. Perhaps that is another thing that Cronin was looking for. Both Brown and Jamerson were playing well below the radar in programs that just didn't get much attention. Part of the ratings system, I believe, is predicated on visibility. Perhaps that lack of visibility is partly the reason for their low rankings?
And then there's Dent. He's probably the best or at least one of the best point/lead guards in the portal. I believe almost everyone would agree that he was a huge and important no-brainer get for Cronin. Dent is the kind of guy that a coach can build a team around.
We'll see how the other three guys evolve and how significant a contributor each will be. Maybe Cronin has picked some guys that are diamonds in the rough so to speak. Or maybe not. What I do see is that Cronin is taking a huge gamble that Booker, Jamerson, and Brown will all prove to be much more than they were being given credit for. That and Dailey's ability to transition into an effective 3 will determine in large measure just how successful the 2025-26 season will be - that and of course no major injuries. Right now Cronin's roster is a bit thin. Hoping for at least one more addition - two would be even better, another post and a wing.
