He declined to go down to the locker room to meet with the players. When asked why not, he simply said, "This is their moment in history." Was that really 31 years ago?

An Indiana native, he was way ahead of his time. Early in his coaching career in Indiana, he refused to participate in tournaments that banned black players. He did this more than a decade before Americans had heard of Martin Luther King.

Contrast him with the other big names from Indiana: Bobby Knight and Lou Holtz. Total MAGA pieces of shit.

And oh, he was a Democrat.
