I can't stand how the vast majority of soccer announcers in the US are from England. It's ridiculous. Give those jobs to Americans.
And, I absolutely can't stand how almost all the studio hosts are English women, who feel they have to have that snarky belittling English woman studio host attitude. I won't watch them.*
And, I absolutely abhor how those two things combine to create this assumption that everyone watching is an England fan. I hate the English teams. It's bullsh*t. As an aside, I mentioned that before the France v. Paraguay match we got two, yes two, soccer adjacent pieces about France. Not a word about Paraguay. That's total b#llsh*t, and France is my #2 team.
For the life of me, I can't figure out how colonialism fits into this discussion.
*Rebecca Lowe is the exception. She's awesome, and she does play that I have to put everyone down with a wink game.
