Our HC search committee did a great job in reaching out to and hiring Chesney. I didn't place that much value on Chesney bringing along Kennedy, his OC, and Hitschler, his DC, from JMU. I do now.
And to Lupoi's credit, he is a great recruiter. The alums, who pledged $88MM to Cal Athletics for FY ending 2026, supposedly wanted Lupoi over some experienced HCs so they did have some say in the matter.
