Chip's transitional recruiting class 2018: Ranked 24th by rivals
Chips first recruiting class on his own 2019: ranked 44. That's probably the one where I'm recalling he offered 31 four and five star and landed one. That would be Rhyan. I've always used rivals and I think Rhyan was the only 4 star we got that year.
2020:ranked 44
Jarmond hired. May, 2020.
2021: ranked 33
2022: ranked 64
2024: ranked 55
To me, in Chip's first all his own class, he was going after highly ranked talent. He struck out on almost all of them, and had a 44th ranked class. Second year, after Jarmond hired, ranked 33. Next two years, average rank of 59.5.
I think something happened between classes that were ranked 44 and 33, trending up, and classes that were ranked 64 and 55. I don't think it's that Chip suddenly got significantly more lazy in 2022. I think that's when something came down from above. And, he started looking for a new job the next season. JMO.
