What does EB really bring to UCLA? He was a good recruiter, but that was 20 years ago. Can he go from chalk talk with Mahomes, working with Andy Reid, and interviewing for NFL HC jobs to texting 16 year old kids again? Is he hungry to win here or just passing time until his next NFL gig? He's more a creature of the NFL now than college. He is in no way a proven schemer or play caller. As best we can tell, he's a good NFL position coach who has worked with some great people.

When he worked under Dorrell he was the young, fiery, hard charging recruiter who was a college star and who had recently played in the NFL. Now, he's in his mid 50's, likely has made a good deal of money, and appears to be topped out as a coordinator. If he's going to be a rabid recruiter then maybe he can help us. Maybe he can channel his extensive experience into success as a college OC. I'm just not sure what we're getting at this point.

This appears to be a grab at a "big name". Seems like a guy who really wants to be in the NFL, but who needs a job for a year to keep his name in the coaching mix. But, given Foster's inexperience/lack of credibility as a head coach, maybe he's the best we can hope for.

I hope he kills it here and parlays it into a great NFL job. But once again, we're just going to have to hope we get very lucky.
