... in his contract?

I think the obvious answer is that there is always the possibility that the coach will go elsewhere. And to compensate Ucla for the inconvenience of leaving (because it's always inconvenient), he had to pay $1.5 MM.

Kelly's done exactly what was required of him in his contract.

And per Pittsburghbuckeye's posts on this board, chip didn't start looking for a new job until AFTER his proposal to Ucla was rejected. It's not chip's fault jarmond didn't let chip know where he stood until after the holidays (ie, in January sometime).

And btw, I thought the broskis wanted chip gone. Period. Aren't you happy?

If course, bad things happen at any time. What if daboer suddenly died of a heart attack? Do you think bammy would decide, "shoot, we're really fvcked here. Let's just hire the rb coach and give him a 5 year deal"?

No way. There are plenty of other cfb guys or nfl guys who would take bammy's call and want the job. Bammy has crazy $ support, crazy fan support, and a good program in place. But Ucla only has one of those 3. That is what makes the Ucla less attractive to an outsider, or an experienced candidate
