Absurd doesn't mean it didn't happen

Ya, Chip came in with a reputation as an unenthusiastic recruiter. But, without going back and looking, his classes at Oregon were consistently top 15?

Which is more absurd? After Chip's first year where he went after 31 four and five stars (and landed one) he just said fuuuuuuuuuggit, I'd rather lay in bed and watch Division 3 games all season than recruit. He identified Carson Steele after watching a Bowling Green game on tv. He didn't just happen to watch one Group of 5 game and lo and behold one of the teams had an outstanding running back. How many G5 games did he watch?

These seem equally absurd to me that a guy that consistently recruited in the top 15, who competed for a NC, who came in saying he was here "to win championships" suddenly decides that rather than recruiting, he's going to sit and watch G5, D2, and D3 games all season long vs. he comes in, and the Athl. Dept for some reason suddenly decides they only want guys with reallly high moral character and really high academic ability. Those are both equally absurd to me. JMO.

But, hey, I hope I'm wrong. I hope it's alllll Chip. If we hire a competent new guy, and that guy hit's the trail recruiting the best players. I will mooorrrrre than happily come back on here and post that my conjecture was ill-founded. The problem was Chip and only Chip all along. (In which case I will still gloat, b/c as you recall, I was very opposed to hiring him in the first place :-)
