Nope. Nearly All these reads are being made by the staff. I know this for a fact. At least half of the major cfb teams run something similar to the following. Play comes in, O gets in formation. Then motion z or y (but usually z) to determine if zone or man. Then what happens? You know, QB relooks to sideline to get proper read and then quick pass or if he sees 1/1 on a player the staff thinks has a speed advantage deep route (post, go everywhere in the college game.

If your running RPO, you have one read on the end and then quick slant (or quick out or bubble screen) to the predetermined receiver (usually your best WR).

My point being is that the QBs are not making these reads for at least 70% of teams. Thr sidelines are making these reads. It’s why you’ve seen a huge groundswell for communication in QB headsets.
