I think KD is an excellent coach. But it’s the fit that concerns me. Have you seen the diaspora of all the talent leaving? Caleb downs (the best freshman in the country) in portal. Their starting LT just hit the portal. The wr who had most yards went to UGA. They are going to experience a significant outflow of talent. You can’t scheme your way to success in the SEC. You need to talent.
I just don’t think KD is going to translate to the south. I’ll take Lannings AND Novell’s experience in the SEC over KD. As everyone in the SEC says “It’s just different”. I’m also underwhelmed by the staff although lots of people say good things about the new DC who was the HC at Bama State or one of the other Bama schools. I know nothing about him (he was the DC at Indiana at one point, I think the 1 year they were good in the last 30 years) but people that cover the area think highly of him. They also got the HC from Buffalo to take a position.
I’d be shorting Bama.
