It's really exciting to see the new talent coming up for the team. Even with the loss of Abby, Syd, A-Rod, Lauren (to me, if she hadn't been played out of position, she could have been a legend), Rampone, and possibly Rapinoe (possibly my favorite USWNT player ever. Maybe 2nd to Akers. )
But, the kids are great. Brian, is the best ball handler we've ever had. I think both Dunn and McCaffrey are going to be fantastic. Johnston has to be the most offensively skilled CB in the world.
Hopefully Pugh turns out to be a great one, too.
Can't believe the Olympics are around the corner. I've gotten to where I'm more interested in the Women's soccer in the Olympics than the rest of the Olympics.
Aside: I'd forgotten that for most of her career, Abby wasn't a lamppost, loitering in the box. A while ago I watched a match from fairly early in her career. She was super athletic, nimble, and was playing mostly outside the box. A great all-round soccer player.
2nd aside: I watched a couple of NWSL matches on Youtube last season. It's entertaining soccer. First, for whatever reason, it's more open than Women's international soccer is. There is not the constant hacking, professional fouls that you get in the int'l game.
