Even though UCLA doesn't have a glitzy record or ranking, I think they are in good position with three quality starters to make another run to Omaha. UCLA really doesn't have first, second and third pitchers. They have 1a, 1b, and 1c who could all be Friday Night pitchers for most teams in the country.
I know there was some disappointment after losing to LBSU and CSUB. To out it in perspective however, Bakersfield just swept 19th ranked Fresno St a three game series this weekend and shut them out for the first time Friday Night with the same guy who beat Cole (McCarthy). Fresno was 31-11 going into the weekend.
Pitching is a key in short series like the playoffs.
