I understand those stats are not perfect, as the players did not start in all the games they played in, and may have just one pinch-hit appearance in the others. I think that accounts for the lower number of Blake, who has sat the most, and most likely pinch-hitted the most.
Still, the difference between Kemp and Hudson only amounts to 55 AB/162 games. The difference between Ethier (who has mostly batted 3rd or 4th) and Kemp only amounts to 19 AB/162 games. That's not nearly as drastic as you think.
