I'm with you on defending Ethier - you don't get on a guy when he's in a slump, otherwise, you'd never like anyone.
And, where I'm against you we don't completely disagree. he had a great April, and contributed well to the Dodgers' great start.
But, I can't agree that he carried the team more than Manny. Statistically, I agree he did better than manny in many categories and probably overall. But, it's evident that Manny's very appearance makes others around him better. Last year, Ethier benefitted from having Manny bat behind him, and this year by having him ahead. (I wonder how many of those April RBI's were Manny?)
I'm not a Manny honk either. He's getting what he deserves, and hopefully he'll have learned a valuable lesson when he returns.
