Once a state is recognized that isn’t something that just vanishes. Russia occupies portions of neighboring states, for example.
For decades many of Israel’s neighbors did not recognize it and in fact repeatedly attacked Israel with the aim of destroying it as a nation.
Eventually Carter brokered peace between Egypt and Israel which then called for the two state solution.
Which extremists like Hamas have rejected along with the existence of Israel while the far right Israeli factions that support Netanyahu’s government claim the same right to all the land from the old mandate.
