Greenland: does Trump have a plan?

It seems to me that Dementia Donnie's statement that anything less than U.S. control of Greenland would be “unacceptable” is like throwing down a gauntlet to NATO and the EU.

We already have a military base in Greenland for ballistic missile early warning, space surveillance, satellite control and artic defense operations. We've had others, but they've been shuttered for years.

Is he thinking in terms of making Greenland our 51st? After all, the Hawaiian Islands are a few thousand miles from our current west coast. So, why not add a large chunk of ice well beyond our east coast?

Putin must love this. It could be said that Donnie's latest move might be the straw than breaks NATO's back. Trump must think that we "don't need no stinkin' allies", but going it alone is not a solution because if we're gonna start doing that, then eventually we'll be on the outside looking in.
