What I remember from that game was that it was a total mud bath and the next day a photo in the LA Times showed a photo, taken right along the goal line - of the UCLA RB - I think it was Peters but it's been a bit of a while now - with the ball still firmly in his hands and having crossed the plane of the goal line.
It was a long ago era. The picture that was always displayed in the Coop of our tailback being led on a sweep by three or four Bruin All Americans centers my memories of that era of Red Sanders' coached UCLA football. The talent was terrific and those battles with Maryland headlined the sport of college football.
