College Football —-1953-1954- 1955
This seems like some kind of long forgotten mythical relic or typographical “era” where improbable #3 defending ‘53 National Champion -MARYLAND (!?) was beaten by UCLA on the way to its own undefeated 1954 National Championship. THEN 1955 commencing with UCLA, the toast of the nation opening the season ranked #1 (for the only time in its history to date) only to be upset, shutout 0-7 at #5 Maryland, the loss apparently determined when UCLA on the brink of a TD fumbled to MD on the muddy goal line. Snapped a UCLA 10 game winning streak. Maryland was subsequently ranked #1 on and off for several weeks, losing to eventual final #1 Oklahoma in the Orange Bowl. For the record, UCLA went undefeated for the rest of the season until a narrow
14-17 loss to #2 Michigan State in the RoseBowl.
Now an unranked undefeated UCLA travels to College Fark to play a supposedly foundering Maryland possibly in the wet. Which favors turdles….
