And most schools have also commonly had freshman, JV and Varsity cheerleading squads, this is going back to at least the 80s in Southern CA.
And exactly why is it courageous that a girl who is smaller than others tried out for cheerleading and courageous that the school let her do so? Is it because both were bound to be subjected to imbecilic commentary? What about all the plus-sized girls who are now commonplace even on college squads. are they courageous too? If she made the squad, I am going to assume that it's because she had the requisite skills to do so and not because of her diminutive stature.
