With the Washington situation, that never went to court (that I know of). My guess is that Washington told Williams they would sue him for breach of contract and he'd owe them a big chunk of change. And, perhaps that made Williams or the school that was chasing him back off. I would hope that Duke tried that first. It seems like taking the kid to court (as Duke has) would create more bad blood than reminding him of his contract and potential liability for breach.
