I don't like either one of them.
but I do think ND is a better team.
That head to head matchup? oddsmakers and computer systems give 3-4 points for home field advantage. So if Miami won by 3 points at home, that says that they are probably closely matched (at least during week 1 of the season).
Why do I think they are a better team? They did not lose to a crappy team. And all the computers rank ND higher. I went to powerrankingsguru.com which averages various computer systems around the web. ND averages 3.5, with a high of 2 and a low of 6. Miami averages 9, with a high of 6 and a low of 14. So according to them, there is no computer that thinks Miami is a better team than ND.
Both should be in the field, and are probably better than other "at large" teams, like Ole Miss.
