they need to join a conference and win the damn thing like everyone else.
Given that conferences are shrinking in number and inflating in size, folks need to just get together and devise a system that helps organize these conferences and the games in them in ways that gives some order to chaos.
What not to do under any circumstances: let people in a room who watch games decide on hypothetical matchups and whose team looks better than whose. That's the part that needs to go.
We put a f*cking man on the moon once. Long ago, but still... Surely we still have enough of an engineering mindset and system level expertise to create a just and fair system that does not rely on the human judgment factor.
And like I said, ND should join some conference if they are so keen on being in the playoffs. It's as simple as that.
