Go form 6-8 ten team conferences and you have to play everyone in your conference first and foremost. Then those conference champions get an automatic bid and you can pick an additional 4-6 teams. Isn't that basically what the NFL is doing? That will never happen because they want the BIG money especially from Conference Championship games.
Then the next problem is only certain groups will schedule strong OOC games while others don't because they already feel their conference is the toughest in the country, so it only hurts them. So now when you are deciding who the at large bids go to, guess what, someone is getting left out and this is all BS because some conferences aren't as strong as others, so they shouldn't be in anyways. What's the best way to fix that? Get the weaker conference to schedule the stronger conference in OOC games, but the better teams DO NOT want to play those games.
So what do we have now? We have at least 5 teams out west that have to travel over 2000 miles every other week just to stay financially competitive. We have a ND team that feels they don't need to join a conference because they are better than anyone else and deserve all the money and don't need to share. And we have a system that absolutely no one had an issue with at the beginning and during the year and was even touting how it was good for teams like Tulane, North Texas, South Florida, and a couple others but now is the most horrible system in the world because the ACC s**t the bed with their result.
You know who DESERVES to play for the NC? Indiana, Georgia, Ohio St., and Texas Tech. That's it. No one else deserves to play for the NC. But here we are.
