The catch-22 of the expectations trap

Ucla fans won't come to games unless and until the team "wins". (How is "wins" defined? My sense is that Ucla fan is so jaded that it will take at least two 8+ win seasons before Ucla fan will return to in person attendance.)

But great players won't settle for playing before empty seats. And great players are critical to winning football games. So it's very hard to win 8+ games per year without great players.

And without 8+ wins a year, fan attendance will remain in the shiiiter.

It's a paradox.
