If they beat Troy, they are the Sun Belt champions. Five conference champions are auto bids.
Four are pretty certain. The SEC, Big Ten, Big 12, and American champions (North Texas or Tulane) will get bids.
What about the ACC? If Virginia wins, they are the 5th conference champion. BUT if Duke wins, there is a question. Do you take 7-5 Duke out of the ACC or 12-1 James Madison. Which would be the higher ranked conference champion?
At this point Duke has 1 win over a team with a winning record, a 1-point win over 7-5 Clemson. A win over Virginia would give them 2 wins.
If you look at SP+ Duke is #53 and JMU is #24.
So who gets in, Duke or the Dukes? If you want Chesney to start sooner, you want Virginia to win the ACC championship game. VIrginia is only a 3.5-point favorite.
