The timeline for HS recruiting has changed. Most of the best schools already have large classes of commits for 2026, and most of the best players are already committed. Most of the ones who aren't will be before the end of the summer. I would bet that *at least* 200 of the top 300 ranked prospects will be committed before they even start their senior seasons. Maybe 250.
There will be some late signees and defections, but most everyone gets in early now. Even if they aren't filling their classes with commits yet, they are getting in hard and early with their efforts.
There are some low-commit teams out there like Alabama, LSU, Michigan, and Oregon. But others like Texas A&M, Notre Dame, Georgia, Ohio St., Clemson, and Penn State already have large numbers of commits for 2026. USC has 30 commits for 2026.
The days of letting things play out and then closing late are largely a thing of the past. Most of the elites who wait until December will be the super elites who can go wherever they choose. The February signing day is now pretty much a non-event.
