That all makes sense. But that doesn't change the fact that both sides having early termination penalties doesn't mean their respective amounts are the same. I still believe that UCLA would have had to pay Chip the $6 million (or whatever) if UCLA terminated the contract by firing him, but Chip only has to pay $1.5 million because HE terminated the contract by resigning/leaving. (And I'm sure he negotiated with OSU for them to pay that amount to UCLA.) The dollar amounts don't have to be the same.
