His entire new contract at OSu is going to be less than he would have made had he stayed this year. Assume he’s gonna make 2mm (which is probably high I think current highest paid oc is 2.05mm) that’s 6mm. Plus he has to pay ucla 1.5mm as an exit fee. At ucla he was gonna make 6.1mm. If he was fired after next year there was probably some payment due for early dismissal.

He wanted out…badly. I don’t really think he did this to rehab his image to get another HC in college. For Chip, that is done. Nobody wants a HC that eschews recruiting. Other than a few ostriches on UCLA message boards everyone knows that’s the key to building a successful program.

I spent a few minutes last night looking at men of Westwood (thanks TJJ). I left disappointed. I don’t want to contribute $$ to basketball (men’s or women) or baseball. We need a collective dedicated to football and only football. Below linked an article about how modern day football collectives function. UCLA needs to jump on board.
